Life Lately

. 2.22.2019 .
Hello people,
It's been a while, hasn't it? So much for consistency am I right? I did mention in my previous post that my laptop stopped working and that's *partly* the reason for my silence on here. I couldn't keep up with blogging on my phone, it's so stressful. But in the spirit of trying to be consistent and not slipping into old habits, here's me typing this out with a borrowed laptop.
As it's been a couple of weeks, I thought it would be great to do a mini-catchup on the different parts of my life.

Skincare
I bought the Seoul Ceuticals Day Glow Serum as a mini-present for myself back in December. It contains 20% Vitamin C , Hyaluronic Acid and Ferulic Acid. It claims to minimize the appearance of acne scars, fade spots and make skin brighter. It's also supposed to be a dupe of the famous $160 Skinceuticals one. I've heard about this dupe lots of times and it's got rave reviews on Amazon so I decided to try it and see. Well, it's now February and I honesty can't see a difference in my skin whatsoever. It smells good, feels good but nada. It didn't impact my skin negatively either though.

In other skincare news, after months of getting samples,  I finally bought the Clinique Dramatically Moisturizing Gel and it was so worth it. It cost $28 for 125 ML. It's light and does a good job, no wonder it's a holy grail for so many people. So glad I bought it.

Books
The one book I read recently that has really stood out is After You by Jojo Moyes. This is the sequel to the popular Me Before You whose review you can read here. I enjoyed it thoroughly and I've been unable to read any other book since I read it. Does that ever happen to you? You finish a book and just can't get interested in any other one? Anyways, I totally loved getting back into Louisa's life after Will's death. It was a nice, feel good book -there are some parts that'll leave you teary-eyed though.
Makeup
So I rarely talk about makeup on here because my makeup routine is pretty basic and in my opinion, nothing worth sharing. Anyways, after about a year, I ran out of my foundations - MAC Studio Fix and Maybelline Fit Me. I decided to get the very-raved about Pro Filt'r Foundation from Fenty Beauty and wow, Rihanna (& her team of course) really outdid herself with this. The foundation's so light and air and it only transfers a little. My MAC one had such amazing coverage but I couldn't even touch my face without getting my fingers brown. This doesn't happen with the Fenty one so yay! I will say though, if you're looking for a full full coverage foundation then it's probably not for you. The coverage is buildable but it's definitely not a full coverage foundation.

I also recently fell in love once again with lip-gloss and so I bought the NYX Butter Gloss in the shade Tiramisu after watching a YouTube video about it (the wild part is that I'm not even subscribed to the person's channel, for some reason it was in my recommendations and I decided to watch. Influencers definitely have influence guys #okaybye).  It's a nice nude colour and looks good with brown lip liner. It also only costs $5 so it's such a steal!

Diet & Fitness
I've mentioned numerous times on here that I've been wanting to go back to how fit I was in 2016/2017. In 2018, that was a big fail but I resolved to do better this year. I've been doing Intermittent Fasting with my friend Chiamaka, making sure to eat between 12PM and 8PM making sure to be mindful of what I eat - not in a super punishing way like I've done in the past, mind you.

I haven't been super strict with the timings if I'm being honest (I ate jollof rice at 8:30 PM just yesterday) but I've been fairly consistent. I've also been working out a lot more, at least twice a week which makes me so happy. I'm not sure if it's the fasting, the workouts or the eating a little bit healthier but I've lost a few pounds so yay. Currently trying to lose the 15 that I gained in 2018 so this is great progress.

Mental Health
I started journaling at the beginning of this year as a way to document my life and also help curb the anxiety that creeps up from time to time. I'm not super strict with when or what I write, I simply write when I feel like it and it's been so therapeutic and so good for my mental health. It's also sort of a gratitude journal as I tend to end each entry with three things I'm grateful for. I plan on doing a proper post on this soon so watch put for that. But yeah, journaling has been very helpful.

Okay lovelies, that's it for my little recap. See you in my next post which fingers crossed, should be next week xx

  2. ahahh the Clinique Dramatically Moisturising Gel is aptly named! // Sometimes I finish a book I love and it isn't so much that I don't want to read another book but that I want to stay in the world of the book I just finished! Usually I'll satiate that feeling by reading reviews on Goodreads or blogs and looking up tags on Tumblr :3 // I'm working on my fitness as well! My main motivation is for my mental health, even more than my physical healthhaha. Glad to hear you're making progress :) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's

    1. LMAO, it definitely was very well-named. Ooh I've never thought of doing that after reading a book I love - the blog bit I mean. Sometimes I get annoyed at the Good Read reviews especially if a book I happen to love is getting a lot of slander haha. Thank you Audrey, good luck with your fitness journey too :)

  3. I agree too that blogging on the phone is too stressful so I hope your laptop situation gets resolved sooner than later. Kudos to you on journaling. I really should do more of that but I keep thinking that I am writing gibberish (i tend to vent a lot on paper)... - www.jamilakyari.com

    1. Thank you Jamila! Aw I totally get it, venting is totally okay. I would say just keep going with the flow. Thank you for stopping by :)

  4. I can't blog on my phone or tablet either. If I'm not typing on my laptop or a desktop, then chances are I wouldn't blog as much either. Besides, I'm still on Blogger and the app is very user-unfriendly! I don't get Google not putting more effort into Blogger. Oh well.

On journaling, I decided to write little blurbs in my planner and kept up with it for a while. I guess it would be similar to bullet journaling? Anyways, I fell away but need to get back to it.

I hope you get a reliable laptop soon!

    1. OMG, yes! There's been no improvement with the Blogger program, it seems like its been stagnant for years but I might be wrong. Yep, that's definitely a form of journaling, to me at least. Thank you Berry :)
