Trying Korean Skincare

So, I was recently contacted by Wishtrend and they sent me some Korean skincare products to try. Wishtrend is an online store that sells Korean beauty products; they stock a mix of their own brand and other popular Korean brands. I was pretty psyched about this as Korean beauty has been really big for years but I just didn't know where to start from or where to buy from.
I was asked to pick two products and I settled on the By Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5% Advanced Serum* (a mouthful, eh?) and the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask*.  The mask was recommended to me and I picked the Vitamin C serum because it had high ratings and I read somewhere that Vitamins C and E work really well together.

To properly test the products, I decided to use them exclusively for about a month. My skincare routine usually follows a pattern; Cleanse-Tone-Treat-Moisturize. Whilst testing the products, here's how I did it:

Day: Wash face - Vitamin C Serum - Moisturizer - Sunscreen

Night: Wash face - Pixi Glow Tonic (every other night) - Vitamin C Serum - Vitamin E Mask

Okay, let's start with the Vitamin C serum.
It's in a 30 ML bottle with a dropper which makes it easy for application. The liquid is clear and runny, it might sting a little when you apply. I personally didn't experience any stinging, but then again my skin isn't really sensitive.
The sign is all gone haha.
I had high hopes for this because as you guys know, I have hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and I've been trying to get rid of it for the longest time, it's my only skin woe really. Vitamin C has a brightening effect and so it's usually recommended for fading dark spots and whatnot. This serum didn't really do much for my face.

I'm more than halfway through the bottle and I haven't noticed any remarkable difference when it comes to my spots. Initially, I thought it was my fault because the package says that it should be stored in the fridge and I didn't do that. However, I started putting it in the fridge and there was still no difference. Or maybe by not putting it in the fridge from the get-go it became oxidized which caused it to not be effective? I doubt that though because oxidized Vitamin C is usually yellowish or brown in colour which mine is not. Ah well, very disappointing!

And now, to the mask
Can I just start by saying that I love the mask! It comes in a small tub and I believe you get 90 ML of product. It's not a wash off mask, it's more of an overnight one. The mask is white and has a jelly-like texture. It actually reminds me a lot of eko or white pap. That jelly-like feeling disappears once you apply it on your face though, it also has a nice citrus scent. It comes with a tiny applicator if you don't want to dip your fingers in it. I love the bouncy feeling of the mask so I never use the applicator.
The mask contains Vitamin E which is supposed to have a brightening effect and help with skin regeneration and wrinkles. I can't really speak on the wrinkles. My mum doesn't have wrinkles per se but a small area on her face got all wrinkly because her shower water was too hot. She decided to try the mask and it did help, she actually said she's going to order it.
For me, what I like about the mask is how hydrating it is. I don't really suffer from dryness but I find that sometimes I wake up and my face is dry in some areas. This mask takes care of that for me. My skin feels very supple in the mornings. I would definitely put it up there with other hydrating masks from 'mainstream' brands. At 90 ML you get a ton of product and it lasts a long time because you only need very little. No wonder this has very good reviews, I definitely see myself buying this in the future!

It was fun to test out some Korean skincare and I'm hoping I can try more in the future. Thank you to Wishtrend for sending me these products. I'll talk to you guys in my next post!
