Life Update: Where Did I Go?!

Hello beautiful people, it's been a quick minute since I've been on here. More like just over a month haha, very happy to be back though. This blogging break started as an intentional one then spiralled into an unintentional one when I had to travel and then at a point my internet connection wasn't so great and to top it all off, my laptop charger stopped working. So many things huh?  What have I been up to since my last post you're asking? Well let's jump right into it, shall we?

Travel
I'm currently in the US of A (as I like to call it) on a visit. The perks of having so much free time haha. In the short while that I've been here, I've drunk more soda than all the other months of the year put together, experienced an American Thanksgiving for the first time and also experienced a black man being racially abused. The last incident had me pretty riled up and reminded me of my rant.

Going Vegan?
I've really been toying with the idea of going vegan lately. During the summer I watched the What The Health documentary on Netflix and that's when the seeds were planted, no pun intended. Since I watched the documentary I gag a little when I drink cow's milk because there was something in the documentary about pus being a constituent of said milk.I started having my morning oatmeal with almond milk after that which makes no sense because I still take dairy ice cream and cheese.

I just don't know if I'm cut out for this veganism stuff full time because what sort of life would I be living if I can't eat meat-pie, shawarma or dodo gizzard*? I suppose I shouldn't be thinking about the stuff I can't have right? It's hard though. For now, I'm just going to focus on eating more plant-based meals and fewer animal ones and maybe from there, I'll start to phase different things out.

My Routines

The only thing that has been consistent with my routine lately is practising my French on Duolingo. I'm currently 63% fluent and that makes me so happy. I've obviously got a long way to go and Duolingo alone isn't going to cut it but hey it's the little wins right? I've been thinking of watching French movies and shows, Duolingo helps a lot with grammar and rules so reading and writing is relatively easy but speaking, not so much. Hoping to work on that.

Everything else in my routine, I haven't really been consistent. Not working out, not eating healthy, not listening to my podcasts (I am SO behind on my podcasts), not doing all the things I usually do. Which sucks. I'm hoping to put an end to it this coming week. Time to be productive again. Which is really difficult at times because American Netflix is so great guys!

Anyways, that brings me to the end of this post. It wasn't really a planned post so I apologize if it's a bit over the place. My laptop charger literally came in the mail today and I just had to blog. So that's really what's been up to guys, I'll talk to you in my next one. xx

* Dodo Gizzard: Nigerian dish that comprises of fried plantain and gizzard in a pepper stew. Usually served as a side.

    1. I get it, sometimes when life gets hectic Duolingo becomes the least of your concerns haha. I think the reason I've been able to maintain my streak for so long is that I have a lot of free time nowadays. The food was really good, the best part of the day to be honest. Thanks for stopping by babe! :)

  9. blog breaks are good for the soul, whether intentional or not. Embrace it and continue

as for the vegan life...well i remember my dad making me watch a docu-film similar to the infamous "What is Health" (which btw i have not seen). I still ate meat but i became a bit more wary of the type of meat i ate, which lead to me cutting out local chicken and chips from my diet...no matter how hungry i got! try to incorporate more fruit and veg into your diet. if you find yourself becoming a vegetarian/vegan then cool....imma still handle my meat lol
