April Round Up ❤

Happy new month guys! I say this at the start of every month but I can't believe it's May already! The year is flying by so quickly. I hope you're on track with the goals you set at the start of the year? I'm not completely on track with mine but I'm trying.

For me, April was pretty much a blur. I spent most of my time studying and when I wasn't studying, I was watching stuff on Netflix and on Youtube. This is my first time using the 'taking stock' format or even doing a monthly round up. Tell me if you like it and if it's something you want to see more on here. xx

Eating: smaller portions. I love rice too much to NOT eat it so I just make sure that when I eat it, I take small portions and fill the rest of my plate with chicken and some veggies.

Watching:  a few shows on Netflix including; The Night Shift (finished season 1 on my day off), Riverdale and The Get Down.

On Youtube, I've been watching MTV Shuga season 5. Shuga is a show that aims to increase awareness of HIV/AIDS and other issues. The first two seasons were set in Kenya, the next two in Nigeria and now season 5, in South Africa. I'm really enjoying the new season although I miss some of the old characters.

Kemi Adetiba's King Women is something I feel everyone should watch. The women that have been featured so far are phenomenal. And their stories? So touching! Taiwo Ajai-Lycett has so much wisdom and has gone through so much in her life. Tara Fela-Durotoye's narration of her childhood almost brought me to tears. Seriously, if you haven't seen it yet, you should.

Listening: to podcasts in the morning whilst getting ready. I listen to Now O Clock by @KingWole on Twitter, We Just Got Back ( a hilarious podcast by three friends who recently moved back to Nigeria), The Skinny Confidential Him x Her, Stuff Mom Never Told You ( very educative) and many others.

Wishing: exams didn't exist and instead I could be at a spa retreat in Bali.

Reading: my school notes and textbooks. I haven't read a novel in about three weeks? The last book I read was The Coffee Shop of Kabul by Deborah Rodriguez. Interesting book.

Drinking: a lot of water, I've been feeling really dehydrated lately and I don't know why.

Believing: that all my hard work will pay off.

Planning: on blogging more and creating more blog content in May. Got a lot of ideas, hope I can make them happen.

Missing: the gym badly. I had to quit as I wasn't going regularly because of school so it was a waste of money. I plan on joining again as soon as my exams are over.

Wearing: a lot of dresses. What can I say? It's Spring!

Cooking: with a lot of vegetables. I've been trying to up my veggie intake so I've been incorporating them a lot in my meals. At the moment, I'm really liking spinach.

Dancing: to Wande Coal's Iskaba. I'm always late to the party when it comes to finding out about the cool songs.

Reminding: myself to listen more and speak less. If you read the Youversion Bible plans, you should check out the 40 Day Word Fast. It's about learning to control what you say and I found it really helpful.
Praying: that May is a wonderful month for us all, spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally ,socially and financially.

  1. It seems like you're making some really good healthy eating adjustments, girlie! Portions are so important and it's something that I've had to be mindful of myself because I love carbs way too much to give up, even more so now that I'm pregnant! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great day!
