New Beauty Products I've Been Trying

Hey, guys. Long time, no blog post. I've just been really uninspired lately. Since the beginning of the month, my life has revolved around studying a lot and not doing much of anything else, unfortunately. Anyways, I'm back now and hopefully better. By the way, did you guys see Beauty and The Beast? I went to see it last Tuesday and it was really nice.I'm a big fan of the Disney princesses so I really enjoyed watching it.

Back to today's blog post, when I say new products I mean I tried them recently for the first time. They're not new as in just released into the market new.

Disclaimer: Please always remember that what works for me might not necessarily work for you as we're all different. Also, I'm not a certified dermatologist, I just like to try new stuff. And remember, the number one thing to do if you want great skin is to eat healthy food and drink water regularly. xx

I read a post by  The Beauty Frenzy about a dupe for the Pixi Glow Tonic. You should check her blog out especially if you live in Nigeria. She has a store + pre-order service that delivers makeup and skincare products to Nigeria. These are usually products that are not readily available in Nigeria. And her blog is on point.

Anyways, she did a post on makeup and skincare dupes and mentioned that the Freedom Glycolic Radiance Tonic is a dupe of the Pixi one. No point paying for the Pixi one if there's a cheaper one (it's a third of the price)  that does the same job. I use the Freedom Tonic twice a day after washing my face. I've never used the Pixi one so I can't compare but this one does what it says. It exfoliates your face.I've been using this for almost a month now and I think it's pretty okay.If you're looking for a cheap, acid exfoliating product then you should try this. I still plan on trying the Pixi Glow Tonic and then comparing the two.

I know I'm terribly late to the party with this one, I don't know what took me so long to try it. The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is so good! It takes off all my makeup, including eyeliner and mascara. I've always struggled with taking off eye makeup but with this micellar water, I don't have to anymore. It takes off all my makeup but doesn't leave my face feeling tight or dry like makeup wipes do. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't try it before as I've heard positive things about it for a long time. Thankfully, I've seen the light and I'm never going back.

I said I was terribly late to the party with the micellar water but with this, I'm extremely late. I'm talking about the MAC Studio Fix Fluid Liquid Foundation. *dodges tomatoes* Yes, I know. It's like a beauty classic that has been around for ages but I've never tried it. I got it as a birthday treat because I didn't have any foundation. Compared to other high-end foundations, this one is quite cheap.

I don't wear it all the time but when I do, everyone tells me my face looks like really smooth milk chocolate haha. It has perfect coverage and it lasts for a substantial amount of time even without a primer. I also like the scent. The only con is that it transfers like crazy. If I'm writing and I just accidentally touch my face then touch my paper, there'll be brown streaks everywhere.

I was in Boots last week when I saw the Collection Sheer Loose Powder. It was cheap (£2.99) and I was looking for something to help set the MAC foundation so I decided to try it. It comes with an application sponge which I threw away. I use a fluffy powder brush to apply it to my face.I was a bit worried that it might make me look ashy but it didn't. I actually think it does a really good job for the price. The foundation doesn't transfer as much anymore so yay to that.

So, yeah. These are the only beauty/skincare products I've bought this year. As you guys know, I prefer to spend more on skincare.

Speaking of beauty, guess who got their upper lip threaded?  This girl! My friend's mum was kind enough to do it for me. I thread my eyebrows so I thought I could handle a little upper lip threading. I couldn't. Guys, I had tears running down my face. That's how painful it was. Apparently, that's the most painful place to thread. I really like the fact that my 'lady-stache' is gone but I don't know if I'll ever thread it again. The pain was just too much to handle.

  1. Great post. Thanks for linking in my blog. I haven't used the MAC Studio Fix Fluid either, so you're not alone. I can never find a decent shade match at MAC.

Omg threading hurtssss! I can't even thread my upper lip because just threading my brows hurts like hell.

I bought a Veet facial hair removal kit for my upper lip hair situation lol. I will review it soon.

  4. I was considering to try The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, but never got to it ever since using the Bioderma one (Which I really love) >< But it's definitely cheaper than Bioderma's!

I don't have a 'solid' beauty regime. I admire ladies who do. :)
